IMPACT–CDAD, an educational initiative, provides important, up-to-date information on the threat posed by CDAD in hospitals and other healthcare settings where the potential for an outbreak is ever present. Initiative activities are designed for three separate and distinct groups of healthcare professionals because they have shared responsibilities to their patients and to the public health. Their educational needs overlap in many areas, but there are some considerations that are unique to each group.
Maintaining a holistic approach by providing educational activities that encompass all healthcare professionals as opposed to activities that target one particular group is an important feature of a well-integrated initiative. If you are a member of a multidisciplinary team, it is essential that you understand the appropriate and necessary role of each team member, as well as your own specific responsibilities. Shared goals and a shared spirit of cooperation built on a foundation of mutual respect allows a multidisciplinary team to work together effectively to achieve positive patient outcomes.
